After working on another illustration, I started working on this for my friend. Katy drew the character a few years ago, and when she shared it, I offered to work on it for her.
On the right, you'll see I filled out her hair, changed the background, added pants and, using shadows, I simulated the roundness of her body, rather than just having flat colours. I angled the ear closest to us to give depth, and using gradients, I was able to show the hair and give it texture. All changes were approved and very much enjoyed by the original artist, my friend, Katy.
